BPA Content in Canned Drinks Increases Blood Pressure and Other Health Factors…NOT True

Are you one of those who really enjoy eating canned foods? Well, if not love to drink canned soft drinks maybe?  If your answer is yes and the canned foods or drinks are in lined with BPA or endocrine disruptor A then you are in higher risk of blood pressure.

According to Yun-Chul Hong, MD of Health Center located at Seoul National University College of Medicine, South Korea "A 5-mm Hg increase in systolic blood pressure by drinking two canned beverages may cause clinically significant problems, particularly in patients with heart disease or hypertension. A 20-mm Hg increase in systolic blood pressure doubles the risk of cardiovascular disease," she explained.

BPA is being used in polycarbonate plastic as well as epoxy resins productions in which are being used in the food containers like dental fillings, plastic bottles, and more. According to the date gathered almost 95% of US residents are exposed to BPA which means there is this higher chance for increase in blood pressure.

Aside from this, there were also previous researches about it that linked to heart rate variability.  Because of this Yun-Chul Hong together with colleagues conducted a further study about this to support previous researches. They conducted the study to random adult Korean women ages at least 60 years old from local community.

The participants were visiting the site three times and everytime they visit the study site they were given soy milk in different combinations: two glass bottles and two cans or one glass bottle and one can. Of course, the combinations were randomized.

Right after the study, American Chemistry Council analyzed the result via press release.

"The authors' conclusions from this small-scale study significantly over-interpret the data measured in the study. As reported by the authors, there were no statistically significant differences in the primary blood pressure measurements of the three treatment groups, whether participants drank soy milk from glass bottles or cans."
