Blueberries have insoluble fiber that eliminates fat out of your system and soluble fiber that slows down stomach emptying. Soluble fiber also enhances blood sugar level. Blueberries contain anthocyanins, hormone that improves blood sugar levels.

Dark Chocolate is good sources of flavonoids that lessen insulin resistance and perk up insulin sensitivity. The flavonoids in dark chocolate have also shown to calm blood pressure, lower stroke risk, and lessen risk for a heart attack.

Fish are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation that can further aggravate diabetes and weight gain. Diabetes diet with fish sources help prevent risk to stroke, the common effect of diabetes.

Spinach and collards are leafy greens that can help lessen risk to diabetes. A British study revealed that people consuming over one serving of spinach daily are less likely to develop risk to diabetes by 14 percent than people who only eat ½ or less servings a day.

Vitamin K, minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, folate, and potassium are the nutrients found in Spinach. Plant chemicals such as zeaxanthin, lutein and flavonoids are also present in Spinach.

Whether you are preventing or controlling diabetes, you are in charge of your health so all you have to do is alter your lifestyle and make necessary food eating changes to prevent diabetes.
