Disney ‘Ducktales’ Reboot Set For 2017 Brings Back Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck Plus Huey, Dewey And Louie

Only one day after Netflix announced the return of the beloved 80s character Pee-Wee Herman for a new film set to be released on the popular on-demand streaming website, another beloved piece from the period is coming back to life, as Disney's "Ducktales" reboot for the year 2017 is announced.

The original series ran in the daily syndicated cartoon block "The Disney Afternoon" from 1987 to 1990, starring Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck and his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie; the new Disney "Ducktales" reboot will bring back the beloved animated ducks, now on Disney XD.

According to Deadline, the announcement of the Disney "Ducktales" reboot is set to be released sometime in 2017, and will follow the classic characters on new adventures around the world, also including other favorites like Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack.

A new generation of viewers will delight in the Disney "Ducktales" reboot, as well as a lot of nostalgic millennials who grew up with the original show when it first aired and after it was widely repeated for years.

"DuckTales' has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," said Marc Buhajm the senior vice president of Disney XD, in a recent statement, according to Comic Book Resources. "It drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."

As Entertainment Weekly recounts after the announcement of the Disney "Ducktales" reboot, the original show also spawned a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game at the time, which was remastered in 2013.
