Lauren Conrad decided to do things differently by removing from her lifestyle website the words that she considers 'fat- shaming' such as "skinny". The month of June was defined by Conrad in her monthly letter as swimsuit season and notes that this is the time when people wear less clothing.
The TV personality posted on Monday in her site that starting this month with her fitness themed 'Shaped Up' she will be replacing words from her site which she thinks are body- shaming terms such as 'skinny,' 'slim,' 'and 'thin'. The terms will be replaced with words like 'fit,' 'toned,' and 'healthy' that she considers to be more appropriate for shaping up. And she is definitely making it official.
She said, "The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans."
As for the name of their theme, the 29 year old and her editorial team wanted to help people, to shift the idea of getting skinny to getting in shape. Regardless of what size and shape, having a healthy body is a must for everyone.
As she promised in her blog, along with the usual features from food, fashion and beauty, Conrad will also continue her 'bikini boot camp' series and will be sharing some of the best ways to sweat. She also offers fitness tips to help people get in shape in a healthy way.
While Conrad is hoping that people will find her this month's letter inspiring, she is already receiving numerous positive feedbacks from her follower in the comments section of her website. Many commentaries admire the changes she made to help people to be fit and healthy.
