Marge And Homer Simpson Split Untrue … According Bart Simpson’s Chalkboard Gag! [PHOTOS]

After having been on air for 25 years and 26 seasons, becoming both the longest-running sitcom and the longest-running animated show in American television, "The Simpsons" is a TV icon, and the yellow family from Springfield is one of the best-known in the world, which is why Marge and Homer Simpson's split has become viral.

Earlier this week, Food World News reported that Al Jean, the show's long-lasting executive producer, recently spoke about a future Marge and Homer Simpson's split next season, the show's 27th, saying a new issue would arise that would break up the parents of Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

According to CNN, following Jean's comments, the Internet went abuzz over Marge and Homer Simpson's split, after he said they'd separate and he'd start dating a pharmacist voiced by "Girls" star Lena Dunham; however, Jean has now said that they won't be actually divorcing and that fans should calm down about the whole thing.

The Mirror reports that the first actual denial of Marge and Homer Simpson's split came from the show's official Twitter account, as they posted a photo of Bart Simpson, the fictional couple's eldest child, looking angry while writing the words "Homer and Marge are not breaking up" in a chalkboard.

Of course, this is a play on the show's now-classic intro, and the Marge and Homer Simpson split isn't the first issue the show has often addressed controversy coming their way through Bart's writing, as he's been punished to write on the chalkboard for the past 25 years. As Sky News reports, the supposed split isn't the only news coming to the show's 27th season, as it has been said that Sideshow Bob, Bart's sworn enemy for the past two decades (voiced by "Frasier" actor Kelsey Grammer), will finally kill Bart in next year's Halloween episode "Treehouse of Horror" - though those are not canon and Bart will be asking people to eat his shorts in the following episode. In any case, as the series' Twitter continues to shower fans with photos of the couple, it's certain that Marge and Homer Simpson's split was just a misunderstanding!
