Sony and Twitch Work Together To Broadcast Games On Xperia

Sony just leveled up their gaming strategy by creating a partnership with Twitch, a popular video game live-streaming provider. By using Sony's new Twitch app, users can have the ability to stream their Android games live directly to a Twitch audience or on Youtube.

The app, labeled Live Screen Streaming is now accessible on the Google Play Store for free. However, the new app will only be available on Xperia Z4 tablet, Xperia Z4v, Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+ which are Sony's most recent devices. The company has not yet revealed if they will bring the new app to their other devices.

Twitch director of Business Development, Brooke Van Dusen said that the partnership with Sony will give the users another level of gaming experience.

"By partnering with an innovator like Sony Mobile ... we are able to ensure our community has more avenues to embrace their passion," the director said.

Carl-Fredrik Martensson, the Senior Business Development Manager of Sony Mobile Communications also stated that the agreement will surely provide gamers fun and excitement.

"Partnering with Twitch to integrate live broadcasting directly in our latest flagship devices represents a fun, social experience for Xperia's Android gamers."

Aside from games, the new app can also broadcast another app or activity on Xperia devices. Consumers can also see on the screen the number of people watching and commenting during the live stream.

If the user wants to upload the broadcast on a different time, recording the footage and saving it to the device for further sharing is possible.

Live game streaming has been quite popular, particularly with PC gaming for years with players streaming Dota 2, League of Legemds, and other PC games. Because of this, many question if mobile gaming will ever gain audiences.

Twitch, however, believes that many users out there are interested in watching mobile games now that many games have gameplay quality that is on par with console titles.
