Twitter Reveals Most Talked about Movie at Comic-Con; Hint: It's not Star Wars or Batman v. Superman

Now that the dust has settled on the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, the question on everyone's minds is: Who won the weekend? Nearly every major Hollywood studio came out guns blazing, trying to one up one another by unveiling all their biggest tent pole movies and trotting out big A-list names at panels and Q and A's.

Coming into the convention, the focus was clearly on the big Comic book superhero announcements. Though Marvel and Disney's Avengers franchise opted to sit out this year's event, the presence of Warner Bros' Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad as well as Fox's X-Men: Apocalypse and Fantastic Four ensured that costumed crime fighters would take centre stage.

If you were to bet on a non-comic book film stealing the show, it would probably have been the much awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

All these films had their moments during the weekend but surprisingly, none of them bagged the top spot. According to Twitter, the most buzzed about film during Comic-Con 2015 was none other than the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

The final instalment of the smash hit young adult series toppled all the superheroes and Jedis in attendance, garnering the most mentions on Twitter during the weekend. Coming in second was Batman v. Superman, whose stunning trailer broke the internet when it first appeared. The final podium spot went to Star Wars, which unveiled its own impressive video featuring an inside look at the special effects and production that is going into the film.

Mockingjay's leading lady, Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, also grabbed the lion's share of attention. Lawrence finished first in the list of most mentioned celebrities, outpacing Supernatural duo Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, and Dylan Sprayberry. Lawrence's popularity was no doubt bolstered by the fact that she appeared in two major panels, Mockingjay's and that of X-Men Apocalypse, where she plays the role of the shape shifting mutant Mystique.
