'Supernatural' Update: Will Jeffrey Dean Morgan Return In Season 11? And Which Director Does He Want To Work With?

The CW series 'Supernatural' is no stranger to seeing its characters coming back from the dead. After all, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) was killed in Season Two but quickly resurrected. Then Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) was attacked by a Hellhound in the third season but was brought back from hell by Castiel (Misha Collins) in Season Four.

One character who might be due for a comeback is the Winchester's father John. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who had played the hunter in Season One and Two, has just told TVLine that he wants to return to the show.

"I would absolutely love to come back," Morgan said. "There's no official talk that I know of, but I'm always in contact with Jared and Jensen. They're very good friends of mine."

So why has it taken so long for John Winchester to return to 'Supernatural?'

"With me it's always been about scheduling," Morgan admitted. "But hopefully we can find a little time and they'll write something that I can do. It would be a great joy to go back and play with those guys."

The actor, who is set to appear in the series 'The Good Wife,' also had an excellent idea on who will direct his comeback episode.

"I would love to have Jensen direct me, honestly." Morgan said. "I think that would be a very cool deal. That's always what I've been pushing for."

Jensen Ackles had directed several 'Supernatural' episodes, including 'Weekend at Bobby's,' 'The Girl Next Door,' 'Heartache' and Season 10's 'Soul Survivor.'

Jeffrey Dean Morgan may have more time for a 'Supernatural' comeback now that filming for 'Batman v Superman' has wrapped. The actor was previously rumored to appear in the film as Bruce Wayne's father. However, the release of the 'Dawn of Justice' trailer confirmed that he will play Thomas Wayne in the movie.

'Supernatural' Season 11 will air on CW on October 7, 2015.
