Did 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Star Vin Diesel Just Announce A Possible 'Iron Giant' Sequel?

Fans of the classic animated film 'The Iron Giant' may be in for a double treat!

It was recently announced that Brad Bird's animated classic will be digitally remastered and released for a limited period. In addition to the film's rerelease, there could be some additional footage added to 'The Iron Giant Signature Edition.'

Perhaps there is no one more excited about the film's return other than the voice of the Iron Giant himself, 'Fast and Furious' star Vin Diesel. The actor took to Facebook to celebrate the Giant's return, and then some.

"I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters... one of the first and one of my favorites is... the Iron Giant," Diesel wrote before adding, "P.s. Don't be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel."

Could Warner Bros. possibly be working on 'The Iron Giant 2?'

The company had no comment on Vin Diesel's statement, but this wouldn't be the first time that the actor has shared a little too much information about his projects. According to CBR, Vin Diesel made it known that he was working on 'Guardians of the Galaxy' before Marvel even thought about making an announcement.

'The Iron Giant' was based on the 1968 Ted Hughes novel of the same name, which follows the story of a young boy who befriends a mysterious metal giant that fell from space. The film featured the voice talents of Christopher McDonald, Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr. and John Mahoney. 'The Iron Giant' was released in 1999 and became one of the first films to feature both traditional and computer animation.

'The Iron Giant: Signature Edition' will feature two new scenes and will reportedly be at least ten minutes longer than the original film. The remastered edition will be shown in selected theaters from September 30 to October 4, 2015.
