Lohan's Edgy Costar James Deen Couldn't Save 'The Canyons'

The Canyons, Lindsay Lohan's upcoming film is going to be released this summer. It is directed by Paul Schrader, the writer of controversial films such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. It depicts the not so glamorous life to Hollywood. It is said to be dark, erotic and will incorporate characters obsessed with sex.

Of course Schrader experienced issues with the troubled starlet. She would not show up on set or arrive late causing him to fire her. She begged him to put her back on to the film and reluctantly he did so. One of the most interesting components to this film is Lohan's costar, James Deen. He is a well known Adult Film Star that has experienced success outside of porn. Last year, GQ featured an article on him along with a photo shoot in which he donned Gucci clothing and showed off his boy next door good looks. From the surface Deen presents a movie star like presence; he has big blue eyes, a fit body and a signature coy smile. All of these assets have allowed him to gain a large fanbase of teen girls. Surprising, huh?

Tumblr is a popular online blog; the primary users are teenage girls. It is sort of like a modern day Myspace. They can post blogs, videos, alter their backgrounds and post pictures. They can also follow each other and place tags on their postings. The more tags a post has, the more people will see it. Deen has quite a following on there.Teenage girls often post photos of him, confess their undying love for him along with news stories that include his name.

With such hype surrounding the film, one would think film festivals around the nation would want to showcase it. Deceit, glamour and a costar that is famous for having sex on camera; all sound like perfect ingredients to garnish an instant following and generate revenue. Sex sells. Not this time around; the film was rejected by SXSW also known as The South by Southwest conferences. The Sundance Film Festival also rejected it. There is no official release date however sources are saying it will enter theaters, this summer.
