Catherine Zeta Jones Makes First Appearance Since Separation From Michael Douglas (PHOTO)

Catherine Zeta Jones makes her first public appearance since the news of her separation from husband of 13 years, Michael Douglas.

The 43-year old actress walked the red carpet in China's Shandong province to announce the launch of a new $5 billion film studio and plans for an annual Chinese film festival hosted by AMC Entertainment on Saturday.

Her appearance came the same day her estranged husband collected an Emmy Award for his role as Liberace in HBO's "Behind the Candelabra". Zeta Jones wore an orange and white Dennis Basso design. Later that night, she changed into a strapless emerald gown for the Wanda Film Production Center ground breaking ceremony in Qingdao, China, according to E! News.

Douglas won in the lead actor category. His acceptance speech was filled with sex jokes aimed to his co-star, Matt Damon, who played his younger lover in the movie, Scott Thorson.

"This is a two-hander, and you're only as good as your other hand," he joked, referencing the intimate love scenes between the two of them in the flick. Damon blushed and giggled as the sexual jokes kept coming.

The night's biggest jokester signed off on a more serious note, remembering to thank his wife.

"I wanna thank my wife, Catherine, for her support," he said, and also acknowledged his son Cameron Douglas, who is currently in prison. "Shout out to my oldest son, Cameron, and hoping that I'll be able and they'll allow me to see him soon."

The pair announced their split on Aug. 28.

"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," a rep for Zeta-Jones said in a statement to E! News.

Douglas later downplayed his marital problems while talking to a reporter in Berlin.

"I have a crisis at home?" he asked. "No, I think the press has a crisis. We are fine. My wife and I are fine."

The New York-based actors are parents to Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10 are not yet legally separated.
