Microsoft Will Give You $200 In Exchange for Your Old Laptop—Or $300 If It's a Mac!

Thinking of buying a new laptop? Then this deal might just be for you!

A new tech deal from Microsoft, to promote Windows 10, is giving away $200 in exchange for an old Windows laptop and $300 if it is a MacBook. The deal is called Easy Trade Up that which requires the user to purchase a qualifying computer from the Microsoft Store  costing over $600 before October 20th, to be eligible for a rebate, after the old laptop has been sent to the store.

The trade-in laptops should meet a few conditions to qualify including not having serious scratches such as a smashed screen and software defects. It should be under six years old, with a minimum screen size of 11.6 inches and it should still be with a working battery and a power supply. Acceptable trade-in devices include laptops, and Apple's MacBook and iMac.

Venture Beat lists down the steps on how to avail of the promo:

1.    "Purchase product(s): You can view the qualifying new product criteria on the Qualifying Purchases page. Purchases must be made between 14th October 2015 and 20th October 2015."

2.    "Claim online: Visit the Trade Up Now page on the promotional website. You will need to provide the below details: Date of purchase, place of purchase, invoice/receipt number, the serial number of your new qualifying product purchased, a picture of the box of your new qualifying purchase clearly showing the full part number and operating system, personal details, payments details, and proof of purchase for your new qualifying product (manufacturer, model, and quantity)."

3.    "Send your old Laptop or Macbook: Package and return your trade-in device as per the instructions received in the approval email, trade-in device must be received within 30 days from purchase."

4.    "Receive your reward: Your claim will be paid within 28 days of validation."

Linux users need not to worry, as Microsoft accepts any operating system installed in the devices. Microsoft uses this kind of promotional tactic every so often when they want to boost their sales.
