Giada De Laurentiis Slices Index Finger During Live Thanksgiving Special on Food Network

Even experienced chefs have accidents in the kitchen.

During the Food Network's Thanksgiving Live Special on Saturday, chef Giada De Laurentiis accidentally cut her index finger, while slicing a turkey roll that she had just made.

An eyewitness told Radar Online, that the knife slipped, slicing open the chef's finger.

"She seemed to go pale and got very quiet putting pressure on it and whispering to Ina that it was bad," an eyewitness told the website. "She looked like she was about to faint."

De Laurentiis was on set along with Alton Brown, Bobby Flay and Ina Garten. Producers of the show quickly cut to commercial break. When the show returned, chef Brown let audience members and viewers know that De Laurentiis had left the set to receive medical attention.

The 43-year-old chef reportedly returned to the show, with a bandaged finger, 15 minutes later. She explained that they got the bleeding to stop by applying pressure and a cold compress.

The Italian-American chef's captioned an Instagram pic, showing her finger before getting stitches and after.

"Before & After.....an adjustment to my normal mani! #backtonormalin2wks #thanksgivinglive,"

In the Food Network's follow-up website program, "Hangout After the Show," De Laurentiis and her fellow chefs laughed the incident off and made jokes on the chef's behalf.

De Laurentiis is not the first celebrity chef to cut themselves on live TV. Chef Julia Child cut her hand while they were taping her TV series, "The French Chef".

Before her mishap, De Laurentiis posted an Instagram video featuring several delicious plates, including turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing.
