Twerking Subway Tracks: Video of Girls Dancing Near 600-Volt Rails Goes Vial (WATCH)

A video of two women twerking along subway tracks in New York City for no apparent reason has gone viral.

According to The New York Post, the unnamed women were filmed giggling, sticking their tongues out and doing the moves that Miley Cyrus made famous at the MTV Music Awards.

The video also shows the women dancing dangerously close to the electrified third 600-volt rail, the Post noted. A male friend can be heard laughing at the girls who don tattoos and black sweatshirts. The male's voice is heard pleading "No face! No face!".

It's unclear which station the two females decided to perform their stunt, but it has reportedly been met with disapproval from public transportation officials.

"One word, dumb," Kevin Ortiz, Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman, told the Post.

The video has been sent to New York Police Department for further investigation. A Metropolitan Transport Authority spokesman told the New York Daily News that the video appears to have been filmed on the 8th Avenue line, which is route for the A, C and E.

The video has been viewed more than 50,000 times since it was unloaded. Videos of people twerking in curious places have flooded the Internet. Such places include libraries, car bonnets, church and on the grave of the performer's grandmother

In January, transportation officials proposed new safety measures after two riders were pushed into an oncoming train last December. According to Bloomberg News, in 2012, 55 people died in New York subways. That is the most since 2007.

Matthew Zeno, 30, urinated on the 600-volt rail in Brooklyn and was killed by a passing train. A friend who tried to help Zeno was also injured.
