'Top Chef' Judge Gail Simmons Welcomes Daughter With Husband Jeremy Abrams

"Top Chef" judge Gail Simmons and her husband Jeremy Abrams welcomed daughter Dahlia Rae Abrams, on Sunday, according to People Magazine.

This is the first child for the couple.

"She weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz.," Simmons' publicist said in a statement. "Mother, father and baby are doing wonderfully."

The 37-year-old chef announced her pregnancy in July. Simmons and Abrams, manager of music programming business Audiostiles, married in 2008. Their wedding was featured in Martha Stewart's Real Weddings magazine.

Simmons, a special projects manager at Food & Wine magazine, told People that she and Abrams wanted to wait to find out the sex of their first born.

"We'd like it to be a surprise," she said. "We have some of the nursery done, but we're going to wait until [we find out] who this little nugget is."

While filming "Top Chef: New Orleans" the chef said she kept her pregnancy a secret from fellow judges.

"The chefs didn't know I was pregnant," Simmons told USA Today in September. "I was very newly pregnant when we shot and it was no one's business. And I wasn't showing so it didn't matter. It really wasn't an issue. I was worried it would be, but it wasn't a problem."

The TV personality told USA Today that she follows simple rules for her pregnancy.

"I didn't drink, I didn't drink caffeine and I didn't eat raw food - raw protein. I didn't eat raw meat, raw fish, raw eggs and raw cheese. But otherwise you can eat anything you want!" Simmons admitted. "I have definitely cut back on eating cured meats, but that's OK. It's just nine months. I'm not finding it that difficult. I eat for a living, so I was very worried. And it's really not that restrictive."

People reported that Simmons considered her first pregnancy easy.

"I really can't complain. It's been amazing," she said. "I feel great and I have lots of energy. I still have a few months left, and then the actual parenting begins!"
