Chris Brown Rejects Plea Deal in Misdemeanor Assault Case

Lawyers for Chris Brown and his bodyguard told a judge Wednesday that the singer rejected a plea deal that would have found both men guilty of assault during an altercation with another male in Washington, D.C., last October.

According to NBC News, the 24-year-old singer and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, 35, were charged with a misdemeanor assault for reportedly hitting and breaking the nose of a man identified as 20-year-old, Isaac Adams Parker.

A police report stated that Parker reportedly tried to jump into a picture that was being taken of Brown, while outside the W hotel in downtown Washington.

Brown was offered a deal in which he would plead guilty to the misdemeanor assault charges but one of Brown's lawyer, Danny Onorato, told reporters outside the courtroom that "It was rejected because [Brown's] not guilty."

Lawyer Mark Geragos added that prosecutors were looking at surveillance video footage to incident what actually happened.

"I've seen everything I need in this case, so absent prosecutors turning over video footage of [Brown] doing it, there's little or no chance of any plea deal," Geragos said.

If found guilty, both men would face a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail and a fine of $1,000. Brown's lawyers say they expect a trial date to be set at another hearing, scheduled for Feb. 20.

During the hearing, that lasted about 10 minutes, Brown did not speak. It was attended by Brown, who wore a wore a charcoal three-piece suit, and was joined by his girlfriend Karrueche Tran and his bodyguard Hollosy.
