Lucy Hale Gushes Over Newly-Released Single and Upcoming Country Album (VIDEO)

Actress Lucy Hale can't help but gush over her upcoming album.

According to MTV News, 18 months after signing a recording contract, the "Pretty Little Liars" star has released her debut single, "You Sound Good to Me", at midnight on Tuesday. Hale took part in a Twitter Q&A to promote her untitled country album.

"It's nice to get to finally be myself," Hale said of becoming a professional musician. "I don't have to hide behind a character, wardrobe or dialogue... [The] cool thing about music is that you can find inspiration from anyone."

The 24-year-old starlet told her Twitter followers that she hopes to be viewed with a "fresh pair of eyes & ears," and said her music is a sense of who she is as person.

"When I started this journey it was never for a hit single or one awesome album," said during her live Twitter chat. "I wanted it to be a lifetime thing. I want to create music as long as the world will possibly let me. I want to tour, see every place possible."

Billboard magazine reported that the actress's first single has hit No. 2 on the country iTunes charts, and #46 overall. While attending the People Choice Awards on Wednesday, the actress spoke to E! News about her single.

"The response, for the most part has been just really welcoming," Hale said.

The starlet did admitted to worrying about how accepting people would be to her coming out as a country artist.

"People are a little like confused by it, but it's been really awesome," she said. "I'm just trying to soak it all in. I'm on cloud nine today. Like, I can't believe it."

Hale won a People's Choice Award for best Cable TV actress for her portrayal of Aria, in the ABC Family show "Pretty Little Liars". The actress called fans response to the show amazing.

"I mean, it blows my mind," Hale said. "You know, it's only when I come to things like this that I realize the success of the show. I mean, I think we all thought at Season 3 that we had hit our peak. And then Season 4 happened and just, the love keeps building. I'm just enjoying the ride. It's pretty incredible."
