Rumors: Second Android Blackberry "The Vienna" in the Works

It would seem that Blackberry is successfully reviving itself. After disastrous results from their failed QWERTY and Blackberry OS phones, the brand new Android-powered Blackberry Priv went on sale to limited markets last week. So far, so good.

Seemingly emboldened by this success, the company is looking at its second Android phone already. A few days ago, Blackberry CEO John Chen said they are preparing to release an entire line of products after launching the Priv. Crackberry ran a story which included renders of what is currently known as the Blackberry Vienna.

The codename "Vienna" had been making rounds in the Internet for a few weeks now but the Crackberry leak is the most solid evidence of Blackberry's adoption of Android.

There are a couple of notable differences between the Priv and the Vienna. For one, the Vienna discards the slide function that hides the physical keyboard. The Vienna always has the physical keyboard face up, Android Headlines noted.

It comes in a range of colors including black, white, red, and dark blue. It features a textured back and its main camera comes with flash. It also has a selfie camera. There are volume buttons on the right side and what looks like a power button as well. There is also a slot on this side which would probably house the sim and sd cards.

The Vienna also has physical navigation buttons for home, back, and recents. It foregoes the usual soft navigation keys found in many Androids. From observation, the Vienna also seems to have a taller form function to accommodate the touch screen. Finally, the speakers appear to be bottom-mounted and a charging port can be found on the left side.

Gadgets 360 noted that before Blackberry officially announced the Priv that it went by the codename "Venice." It can be expected that the new Blackberry Android will also have a name change by the time it goes on sale.
