You can't expect to please them all--especially when it comes to casting movies.
Actor Michael B. Jordan said that he expected a lot of backlash after being cast in the highly anticipated "Fantastic Four" movie.
The Warp reported that the 27-year-old actor has been cast as the Human Torch, which is traditionally played by a Caucasian male. During a press conference at his Fruitvale Station premiere in Rome, Jordan said that some fan reactions did not come as a surprise to him.
"It was expected," the "Fruitvale Station" actor told the crowd. "You kinda know going into it that people are used to seeing something one way, it's a continuity thing more than anything. People don't like change too much."
The actor admitted that he just had to "accept" the reactions from some fans that preferred traditional character casting, because it "is what it is."
"People don't like change too much," Jordan continued. "You can't make everybody happy. You just gotta accept that and know. I'm an actor; I have to do my job. I'm going to do my job the best I can and the way I've been doing it my entire life, my entire career."
During the conference, the "Friday Night Lights" alum called himself a "comic book guy" and said that Johnny Storm/The Human Torch is "one of my favorite characters."
"I grew up a comic book guy, I read comic books as a kid growing up, and the Fantastic Four/Human Torch is one of my favorite characters so I'm going to give it my everything," Jordan said. "I can't wait. I don't really let it bother me at all. I just want to go into it and do the best job I can. We'll see what happens."
Starring alongside Jordan will be Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell. The Josh Trank-directed movie has been in development since 2009.
The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015.
