L'Wren Scott Dead: Fashion Designer's Body Discovered After Commiting Suicide

Fashion designer L'Wren Scott, the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones singer, Mick Jagger, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Monday from an apparent suicide.

ABC News reported that Scott's assistant found the designer's body "unconscious and unresponsive." The 49-year-old's body was found hanging by a scarf inside of her eighth floor apartment on 11th Avenue. Fire officials, who responded to a cardiac arrest call, said the woman was dead when they arrived.

"We are investigating it as a suicide," said New York police Detective Kelly Ort. She added that there were no signs of forced entry, and no suicide note was found.

Her assistant told police that Scott sent a text asking to "come by, and when the assistant arrived at approximately 10:02 a.m., Scott was dead in the living room, prompting the assistant to call police," according to law officials. The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

Jagger and Scott have reportedly been together for more than a decade, dating since 2001. A spokesperson for the rock artist said that Jagger was "completely shocked and devastated." Scott's family issued a statement asking for privacy.

Scott, who began her career as a model, has attracted a long list of celebrity fans, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Obama, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams and more over the years.

Scott created many of Jagger's looks for the Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary tour, which began in 2012 and is currently in Australia. In December, the designer unveiled a special limited edition collection of L'Wren Scott designs for Banana Republic. It was inspired by Japanese culture.

After the news of Scott's death broke, musicians, fashion industry professionals, celebrities and friends took to Twitter to express their grief.
