First Colorado 'Bud & Breakfast' to Sell Range of Marijuana-Laced Treats

Since legalizing the sale of marijuana in the state of Colorado, residents have found inventive ways to get their fix--from baking marijuana into brownies to selling them in vending machines.

ABC News reported that a company known as the MaryJane Group plans on taking the bed and breakfast concept to a whole new level. The company has signed a one-year lease with the Adagio Bed and Breakfast, an inn located in Denver, Colorado.

The Adagio will be transformed into the first-ever "bud and breakfast," where guests will be provided with "the best marijuana and marijuana edibles Colorado has to offer."

"Our concept is to provide our guests with a complete all-inclusive package where they can enjoy the marijuana lifestyle without having a care in the world," Joel C. Schneider, president and CEO of The MaryJane Group, said in a statement. "The Adagio is our pilot project in the marijuana-friendly lodging industry. If our concept is successful, we intend to expand through the leasing or acquisition of additional inns and bed and breakfast establishments."

Helen Strader, owner of the Adagio, added: "We are pleased to be involved with The MaryJane Group and applaud their innovative plan to transform our Adagio Bed and Breakfast to a Bud and Breakfast."

The package also includes a chef, who will prepare food cooked to order, and luxury transportation within Denver. The venue only has six fully renovated rooms. Customers are currently not allowed to smoke inside the hotel, but can light up in the garden.

Colorado made roughly $2 million in marijuana taxes in January and has about 160 state-licensed recreational marijuana stores.
