WATCH: 'Godzilla: Resurgence' Trailer Out! [Release Date, Cast & Plot]

Toho's "Godzilla: Resurgence" teaser trailer and poster has been released, providing audiences a quick sneak peek at the infamous monster.

The last time that Japanese studio Toho brought Godzilla to life was eleven years. With the new "Godzilla: Resurgence" coming to screens with modern visual effects, much is expected of the film.

"Godzilla: Resurgence" is the King of Monsters' 29th appearance on the big screen, but since Toho's "Godzilla: Final Wars" took place way back 2004, it's exciting to see how the studio plans to tell the monsters' story.

According to Comingsoon.net, production of "Godzilla: Resurgence" took place over the summer. Filmmakers Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and the "Attack on Titan" live-action helms the film, with Anno having penned the screenplay. Meanwhile, Higuchi directs the special effects.

Toho has revealed before that it will use CG technology the "most terrifying" version of Godzilla, Higuchi called it. The "Godzilla: Resurgence" plot will be going in a different direction than previous instalments that featured happy endings, with Higuchi citing a world with abandoned innocence following disastrous terrorist attacks and natural disasters in recent years.

"In movie after movie," he said, "People merely ran away from the stampeding monster, and no one tried to face up to the issue of accountability."

The "Godzilla: Resurgence" cast will include Hiroki Hasegawa, Satomi Ishihara and Yutaka Takenouchi. Hasegawa will star as a government official, Satomi Ishihara a U.S. agent and Takenouchi another official from the government. All three expressed excitement over their new roles, with Hasegawa saying he didn't hesitate to accept the offer when Toho asked him to star in the film.

"Who wouldn't want to be involved in a Godzilla production?" he said.

As for Ishihara, she pointed out the "English-heavy dialogue" that comes with her role and added, "Sometimes it's so frustrating, I just want to cry."

Takenouchi on the other hand said the film will be the "best of them all" since it has a "deeper message."

"Godzilla: Resurgence" is slated for release on July 29, 2016 in Japan.
