Chocolate chips, drizzles of Nutella, fruits, and jam make for the perfect toppings on ice cream. If there's one topping that doesn't fit, it would be metal shavings. Ironically, Price Chopper had to recall one of its ice creams due to the presence of metal shavings in it.
The Price Chopper recall involved none other than Central Market Classic's Caramel Caribou ice cream in 48 ounce. Its UPC number is 4173507230. According to reports, the said ice cream had the presence of metal shavings, which is obviously not an ingredient mentioned in the tub.
Customers who have already purchased the said tub using their Price Chopper loyalty card have already been contacted through the SoundBite program. For those who have the said product, they are advised to send it to their local Price Chopper branch for a full refund.
Some of the stores affected by the Price Chopper recall include those in East Coast. At present, the tub of ice cream had been sold at 32 stores in Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. On the other hand, the Central Market Classic Caramel Caribou ice cream was sold to more than 150 Price Chopper stores across the same states.
This is not the first product recall made this week. Early Monday, a product recall for Trader Joe's cashew nuts was announced due to a possible Salmonella contamination. Sainsbury on the other hand had also issued a product recall for their wholemeal 800 gram bread due to the possible contamination of tiny metal pieces.
Another product recall made this week was that of Iceland for their product Jim Beam Bourbon Ribs. The company claims the item had been improperly packaged which could lead to product spoilage. Fresh Express also issued a product recall over their baby spinach due to a piece of almond found in the production supply.
