McDonald's South Korea Includes Beer in their Menu

Looks like South Koreans would find another reason to love McDonald's. One franchise store in South Korea has come up with the brilliant idea of offering beer, specifically to their late-night customers.

According to The Chosunilbo, a news outlet in South Korea, the McDonald's in Alt Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province will start selling draft beer, along with premium burgers on Sunday, simultaneously with their grand opening and launch.

McDonald's hopes that the introduction of a non-conventional commodities-like beers would make waves and bring in more customers and boost sales. If this newly introduced phenomenon will show great and impressive results, McDonald's said that they will be considering opening similar stores in other locations in Asia, particularly in Gangnam and Sinchon, which are locations popular with tourists and young fans of the world's biggest fast food chain.

The Eater also reports that McDonald's Seongnam will also allure customers with their new promo of "build-your-own-burger", which allows patrons to mix and match burger patties with veggies and condiments of their choice.

While this is the first McDonald's store to offer booze in Asia, other adult beverage has been available to some locations in other parts of the world, initiated by a German franchise in 1971. Some stores in the Netherlands and Austria also offers craft brews, while some French McDonald's branches serve wine, even straight from the drive thru.

McDonald's continues to make a buzz, especially in Asia, after the announcement the launch of Japan's chocolate-covered fries and the "modern China burger" which comes with an ash-colored bun, many found bizarre and unappealing.

Despite having no news or confirmation that there is a possibility McDonald's will offer alcoholic beverages in the US, perhaps the sales strategy and study applied in the elusive millennial demographic in South Korea will make the fast food giant do so.
