Chinese Man mistakenly Eats his Boss' Dog, Thought it was "Wild"

A factory worker in Eastern China found a Corgi and assumed it was a "wild" dog, so he killed it, then ate it.

The factory worker named Zhang mistook his boss' Pembroke Welsh Corgi for a stray when he found it wandering in the bathroom at work. Instead of asking around to confirm his suspicion, what did he do? He got a wooden stick and beat the poor dog to death. To make matters worse, he then decided to eat it.

He then went to his staff quarters and took the dog's lifeless body with him. There, he shaved, skinned, and cooked the dog together with his roommates. They ate it the following day.

When the factory worker and his roommates went back to their work, they saw flyers for the dog they killed and ate. Someone was looking for it, and that someone turned out to be their boss. He was offering over $1,200 as a reward for information or its safe return.

Someone who allegedly witnessed the worker kill the dog anonymously tipped the boss about the Corgi's unfortunate demise. The boss, named Wang, then went to his staff quarters and found that his precious dog was indeed killed there. Wang found the floor covered in his dog's fur, and he also found a knife.

When asked for a statement, the factory worker said, "I thought it was a wild dog, I had no clue it was so precious."

The factory worker and his fellow roommates tried to offer compensation for the dog, but their boss opted to dismiss them from employment instead. Wang also brought them to the police and filed a case against them for theft. The factory worker has then posted bail and is once again roaming the streets freely.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy, which came at a hefty price tag of $1,800, was bought by Wang last May for his daughter.
