Gone But Not Forgotten: 10 Most Bizarre Fast Food Items

The concept of fast-food dates back several years ago when vendors would sell quick-prepared meals in markets by the roadside or shops. And apparently, it was in America that the idea of a fast-food started.

With the evolution of fast-foods, we have seen a wide range of food items that they offer. Fortunately, most of these food items are enjoyed by many, but there are also those which many of us find bizarre.

Due to the bacon trend in the early 2000s, Burger King decided to launch a special-edition bacon sundae in the summer of 2012. The new menu offer received mixed reviews and fierce debate when it was made available nationwide. According to the Atlantic, putting it on the menu was an outright insult.

2. Tim Hortons' Buffalo Latte

According to the Huffington Post, the Buffalo Latte is Tim Hortons' unique drink to rival Starbucks' ever-popular pumpkin spice latte. However, the drink confused everyone because of its bizarre choice of ingredient, the buffalo sauce.

This was launched after the 2017 Independence Day celebration in America. However, what made it weird was the pop rocks that were added as an ingredient.

4. Cinnabon's Pizzabon

Hybrid food items are not always the best idea. Cinnabon's Pizzabon is the perfect example. Launching this food item became quite a lesson to them to stick to their beloved sweet staples.

5. Carl's Jr.'s Cheeseburger Delight

Warning! This is not your average double cheeseburger! Yes, it does have pickled jalapeños on a bed of french fries, but it also contains the Santa Fe sauce infused with CBD or Cannabidiol (a compound from Cannabis).

Another hybrid product that was created by Burger King back in 2016 is the Mac N' Cheetos. It is mac and cheese rolled to form a log then coated with Cheetos cheese dust.

8. Taco Bell's Waffle Taco

Back in 2014, Taco Bell attempted to compete with McDonald's in a so-called breakfast battle. McDonald's was reigning with their Egg McMuffin, so Taco Bell launched the Waffle Taco together with their standards like breakfast burritos. However, soon after its debut, the Waffle Taco was taken off the menu in 2015 and replaced with the Biscuit Taco.

9. Popeye's Cookie Dough Chicken Tenders

When Popeye thought of pushing the sweet and savory idea to the limit, they decided to dip their chicken in cookie dough batter and deep-fry them. However, many felt that it does not sound appealing and is quite odd. Since then, it has completely disappeared from their menu.

Unlike the other items, Wendy's Superbar didn't die because it was a flop but because it was too much of a hit. During the 80s and 90s, Wendy's offered an all-you-can-eat buffet known as the Superbar. Because it was such a success, employees struggled to keep the buffet cleaned and stocked. Wendy's Super Bar was last offered in 1998.
