Nestlé Issued Urgent Recall for Coffee Product Due to "Contamination"

Contamination due to a cleaning solution was the reason why Nestlé issued a product recall for the Nescafé Shakissimo Espresso Latte.

According to World News, the sister company of Nestlé, Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK, is pulling out the Nescafé Shakissimo Espresso Latte 190ml item from store shelves. Related reports from Liverpool Echo stated that the product recall was contaminated with residues of a cleaning solution. The cleaning product was reported to contain hydrogen peroxide, which can make the product unsafe to drink.

Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK already issued point of sale notices displayed in all retail stores that carry this product. The point of sales notices will explain to customers why the product is being recalled.

Additionally, it also instructs them on what to do if they have bought the product. Beverages marked with a use-by date of 26/01/2021 are the only ones affected by the recall.

The company encourages customers that bought the product not to drink it. Instead, they can return it to the store from where it was bought so they can get a full refund.

Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK further explained that they are voluntarily recalling the product due to the risk of material used to clean the empty pots before filling in manufacture. To which they mentioned that it could cause an unpleasant taste with a tingling sensation when consumed.

Previous Food Recalls By Nestlé

This is not the first time Nestlé had to issue a recall for their products for this year.

Last February, the company recalled various Ski yogurts' packs over concerns that they may contain bits of rubber. Customers who bought affected batches are being urged not to consume it at all cost.

After Nestle's fruit supplier alerted manufacturers, the warning was issued that the food may contain small pieces of black rubber in it. The affected batches weighed 480g and were made up of four 120g individual pots.

Customers were advised to send the outer cardboard sleeve or a pot lid printed with any of the use-by dates on them to the manufacturers to receive a full refund.

In May 2020, a recall for Lean Cuisine Fettuccini Alfredo Products from Nestle Prepared Foods Company due to misbranding and undeclared ingredients.

The recall involved approximately 29,002 pounds of chicken product labeled as Lean Cuisine Fettuccini Alfredo. The issue was uncovered when the firm received multiple consumer complaints.

It was reported that the product labeled as Lean Cuisine Fettuccini Alfredo contained chicken that is not declared on the label or ingredients.

Unfortunately, another contamination happened in June 2020, this time involving Nestle USA's Baking Division. Reports claim that the company made a voluntary recall of Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough products.

The voluntary recall came after reports from the FDA and CDC due to E Coli 0157:H7 illnesses possibly related to raw cookie dough consumption.

The recall includes all varieties of Toll House refrigerated Cookie Bar Dough, Cookie Dough Tube, Cookie Dough Tub, Seasonal Cookie Dough, Limited Edition Cookie Dough items, and Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough.
