Game of Thrones: The Good News And The Bad News Of The Hit Series

'Game of Thrones' is currently filming for the six season but apparently they will have two more seasons to go, making it a total of eight seasons in the hit series, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Michael Lombardo, who is the head programming of HBO confirmed the good news. Executive producers of the hit fantasy drama, David Benioff and Dan Weiss want to have at least two more season but they still need to discuss it with the author George R. R. Martin.

Benioff and Weiss suggested to Lombardo that they want to have at least two more seasons for the 'Game of Thrones.'

Lombardo said, "I would always love for them to change their minds," suggesting that HBO would like the popular series to run even longer.

Adding, "That's what we're looking at right now."

Lombardo answered the question if HBO will just have "seven seasons and out."

He said, "Seven seasons and out has never been the conversation. The question is how much beyond seven are we going to do."

And when Lombardo was asked if there's going to be a possible prequel series or another spin off of the hit series.

Lombardo said, "I would be open to anything Dan and David want to do. It really would depend fully on what they want to do.

"I think you're right, there's enormous storytelling to be mined in a prequel," he added. "We haven't had any conversations."

As for the question if Jon Snow will be returning to the 'Game of Thrones' after he was brutally murdered by the Night's Watch in the last season, Lombardo's answer seems to be suggesting that Kit Harrington's character was fated to end badly.

Lombardo said, "Dead is dead is dead"

Further adding, "Yes"

"Everything I have seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is dead," he added.
