'Jessica Jones' and 'The Man in the High Castle' Premiere This Weekend

If you haven't made plans for the weekend, you might want to consider staying in because two of TV's best new shows are hitting the internet for your binge-watching pleasure.

Friday, November 20, marks the release date of Netflix's new Marvel Comics series Jessica Jones. On the other side of the fence, Amazon Prime is serving up its latest original creation, the alternate history thriller The Man in The High Castle.

Both shows are among the best reviewed new releases of the year. Here's a sampling of what you can expect.

The Verge's review of Jessica Jones praised lead actress Krysten Ritter's performance as the titular herione - a former superhero now working as a private investigator. Reviewer Kwame Opam says that the show is a good example of how compelling superhero tales need not be about men in costumes.

"The show's greatest triumph is in exploring how women can be powerful, multi-faceted masters of their fate." He writes.

From the crime-ridden streets of Marvel's New York City, the scene shifts to an alternate history America where the Axis powers emerged victorious. Based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name, The Man in The High Castle presents us with a chillingly realistic look at what might have been.

The series has been met with strong praise so far, currently sitting at a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mark Dawidziak of The Cleveland Plain Dealer writes, "the best new show of the fall season (and there is no close second) is not on a broadcast network... The honor belongs to... Amazon and its luminous series version of The Man in the High Castle."

Regardless of which you choose to binge first, it looks you're in for a treat this weekend.
