U.S. Government Blames North Korea For Sponsoring Sony Hack

Sony Pictures finally conceded to the "Guardians of Peace" demands to pull off its satirical movie "The Interview." Sony Pictures release a statement that they are postponing the film's release due to the hacker group's threat of spreading violence on any movie theaters that will show the controversial comedy film.

Sony in an official statement said: "We have decided not to move forward with the prearranged December 25 theatrical release." Sony studious also asserted that this move is a response to certain threats of violence on any movie theater that screens the film; Sony added that it is their utmost interest to ensure the safety of their employees and the public.

"The interview" is a satirical film that features a reporter and his producer on a clandestine assignment to assassinate the supreme leader of North Korea.

Different intelligence agencies claimed that the instigators of the leak and the threat to Sony are state-sponsored hackers working for North Korea. The United States government has held the names of their suspected hackers for the mean time. On response to this allegation, North Korean government has denied any participation or connection to the infamous cyber-attack that has leaked massive amounts of internal Sony information.

The assault on Sony was considered by many state agencies to be the biggest and most disruptive cyber-attack to ever hit a U.S. company. Sony reported that they have lost millions of dollars to the attack which leaked some of its upcoming movies ahead of its theatrical release. The hack also leaked private e-mail discussion between Sony executives and employees. Sensitive employee information such as social security numbers were also flaunted publicly after the hack. Probably, the biggest loss of Sony here is its reputation. A company as big as should put its employees online security on top of its priorities, unfortunately the recent hack on its system and servers have proved it otherwise.
