George Harrison Discography: Beatle And Bee Gees Honored At Grammy 2015!

Though the iconic musician passed away after a years-long battle with cancer in 2001, George Harrison's discography and persona will be honored post-mortem in a Grammy 2015 ceremony, which will also see the Bee Gees getting Lifetime Achievement Awards for their legacy to music.

Without even counting his time in The Beatles, the George Harrison discography still went on for a few decades, leaving some true treasures behind for the enjoyment of generations: throughout his solo career, he released twelve studio albums, two live albums and four compilations - certainly, one of the most prolific artists of our time.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the announcement that George Harrison's discography and career would become honorees in next year's Grammys came last Thursday, as things are being set up for the upcoming Grammy Awards 2014, honoring the work of recording artists in the year 2014.

As the ceremony draws nearer, the Recording Academy has made other announcements in regards of their upcoming celebrations, including an upcoming Grammy Tribute to soul legend Stevie Wonder, following the success of this year's "The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles," where George Harrison's discography in the iconic band was also honored by some of music's most important figures, including Dave Grohl, Katy Perry and Stevie Wonder himself.

Of course, the man who wrote "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" won't be the only recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award 2015. According to NME, the artists who will be joining Harrison will be French composer Pierre Boulez, accordionist Flaco Jiménez, the Louvin Brothers, guitarist Buddy Guy, jazz icon Wayne Shorter and the iconic Australian 70s band Bee Gees (of which two of its three original members have passed away, leaving only Barry Gibb alive to gather the award).

In any case, it's great to see that the George Harrison discography and body of work will be honored in next year's Grammys - though it is unclear whether the ceremony will be broadcasted, since according to NDTV, the Lifetime Achievement Awards will be handed out in a private ceremony the day before the music awards.
