FBI Arrests Spy: Russian Spy Apprehended In New York

As the news made headlines around the world in a manner reminding of the Cold War days, it seems that the latest news from the Federal Bureau of Investigation comes straight out of a James Bond movie, as FBI arrests a spy from Russia in New York City.

The news that FBI arrests a spy wasn't about to go under the radar, exciting as the idea is to the media around the world: a Russian spy trying to collect new intelligence members in a New York to perhaps fulfill an ultimate evil plan, just like in the movies.

Of course, according to Yahoo! News, the fact that FBI arrests a spy in New York was much less glamorous than the headline would subject. Last Monday, federal agents apprehended a Russian citizen that has been charged with espionage for the country led by Vladimir Putin, as he was found attempting to collect new sources and information.

The Huffington Post reports that the news that the FBI arrests a spy in New York came, when information regarding Evgeny Buryakov, 39, was discovered to be posing for an employee at a Russian bank in Manhattan while in reality feeding information to the Russian government.

As RT reports, the apprehended spy was actually part of a bigger scheme, which included Igor Sporyshev and Victor Podobnyy, who were working for the Russian United Nations delegation and as such had diplomatic passports, which made them untouchable by the law, giving them diplomatic immunity; they have since fled the United States and will be reportedly charged in absentia by federal prosecutors.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations looked over more than forty brief meetings between Buryakov and Sporyshev between 2012 and 2014, many of which took place in the outside to avoid further surveillance, raising suspicions of espionage from day one to the FBI agents.

The FBI arrests the spy in the Bronx, as he was attempting to recruit people for the Russian cause.
