‘Ghostbusters’ All-Female Cast: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig Cast, No Bill Murray

Fans of the classic 80s supernatural comedy starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will be pleased to know that the "Ghostbusters" all-female cast has officially been chosen, and it features some of the funniest women in show business at the moment - though, for now, there's no word on whether the stars of the original film will be making an appearance.

The new reboot of the 80s movie has gotten a lot of buzz since it was first announced, and for at least two important reasons: the fact that it's a revival of a beloved comedic classic, and how it was announced that there'd be a "Ghostbusters" all-female cast, which had people guessing for months on end.

The classic song that played as the original movie's theme asked its listeners "who you gonna call?" before replying that it was "Ghostbusters" - and, as The Guardian reports, the question has finally been answered with the announcement of the "Ghostbusters" all-female cast, through Paul Feig, the director of the upcoming film.

As CNN reports, Feig took to Twitter to announce the "Ghostbusters" all-female cast, which features two of the biggest names in comedy right now: namely, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, who already hilariously worked together on the 2011 wedding comedy "Bridesmaids," a movie that was also directed by Paul Feig; that film got McCarthy an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actress and Wiig a nod for co-writing the movie's original screenplay.

As BBC reports, the other two Ghostbuster ladies will be Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live performers just like Wiig.

Before the announcement that the movie would feature a cast of women, production was halted for a while due to the reluctance of the original leading man, Bill Murray, to star in the film; then, the whole thing was almost not made at all following the death of Harold Ramis.

In any case, the "Ghostbusters" all-female cast shows a lot of promise!
