How to Dye Easter Eggs

There are already many Easter eggs dyed in edible dyes. But also you can dye them with ordinary foods instead of edible dyes. Let’s try the food we can easily find. And you can find that there are full of materials can give colors for eggs. Yellow onion skin or violet cabbage will change normal white eggs into Easter jewels. Especially if you do it with your child, you can give the gift of fun and imagination.

Basic method of natural dyes

Ingredients
white eggs, a pot, transparent vinegar, natural dyeing materials, paper towels, cooking oil, a ladle with holes

Directions
1. Clean eggs and let them dry.
2. Draw pictures or write some letters with crayons or paraffin.
3. Put eggs on a pot, and pour warm water to sink eggs. Put 1 tsp. vinegar.
4. Add a natural a dyeing material. Adjust the amount of material according to the amount of water and eggs. The more it is put, the more the color of eggs is vivid.
5. Boil it until it comes to simmer. When it simmers, low the heat and continue to boil about 15 minutes. If you satisfy the color of eggs, scoop it. Let them dry.
6. After drying, rub and put a polish eggs with greased paper towels or soft cloth.

Materials for natural dyeing

Lavender color: small amount of purple grape juice, violets and 2 tsp. lemon juice
Blue violet: violets, purple onion skin
Blue: can of blueberries, purple cabbage, purple grape juice
Yellow green: yellow apple skin
Yellow: orange or lemon peel, carrots, ground cumin, ground turmeric, chamomile tea
Brown or beige: strong coffee, instant coffee
Thick orange: fine pepper powder
Pink: beets, cranberry juice, raspberry, red grape juice
