Stephen King Revival: ‘Misery’ Adapted To Broadway, Bruce Willis As James Caan Character!

Anyone who has seen the film "Misery" has probably developed some sort of fear towards Kathy Bates, or in general towards former nurses that are big fans of book series; now, a Stephen King revival on Broadway will see Bruce Willis playing Paul Sheldon, the tortured author played by James Caan in the 1990 movie.

Annie Wilkes brought Kathy Bates her only Academy Award back in 1991, and it seems like Bruce Willis wants to take on the challenge and get some awards love in the theater as well, as the Stephen King revival will see his Broadway debut.

According to The Guardian, the Stephen King revival will actually be the first time the novel is adapted to the stage, and Elizabeth Marvel (currently featured in the third season of the Netflix political drama "House of Cards") will play Kathy Bates' role.

In the original novel as well as the film adaptation, the story revolves around Annie Wilkes, a former nurse obsessed with the book series "Misery," written by Paul Sheldon, that follows the very melodramatic adventures of a leading lady with the same name; after Sheldon decides to kill off the character, the nurse kidnaps the author and forces him to write a new novel, reviving the character ... and torturing him in the meantime.

According to Time Magazine, William Goldman, the same man responsible for the film adaptation, wrote the play's screenplay; so, a person deeply knowledgeable on how the story moves the new Stephen King revival.

The production of the Stephen King revival still has no dates, but it's been said that it will start at some point of the 2015 fall, produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, directed by Will Frears, according to Hollywood Reporter.
