Angelina Jolie Surgery: Brad Pitt Wife Tells About Second Preventive Surgery, This Time Ovaries And Fallopian Tubes

A couple of years back, the first Angelina Jolie surgery made news, as the Oscar-winning actress and wife of Brad Pitt wrote a co-ed in The New York Times to share her experience about her medical choice to have a double mastectomy to prevent cancer.

Now, in the spring of 2015, Angelina Jolie's surgery has made news once again, as the "Maleficent" actress has taken to The New York Times once again to speak about her medical choices, as this time she made the decision to go through a hysterectomy, getting her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

In her most recent co-ed, published on the March 24 edition of the iconic paper, the actress and director speaks about the latest Angelina Jolie surgery, after she made the decision to go through this new procedure after a cancer scare.

The latest Angelina Jolie surgery, like the one before it a couple of years back, stems from the fact that there are two women in the actress' family who died of cancer, and she found out she carried the BRCA1 gene, which can lead to illnesses like uterine, breast and ovarian cancer.

According to The Washington Post, after the first co-ed about an Angelina Jolie surgery, referrals to breast cancer clinics more than doubled in the entirety of the country, as the actress had made a statement about this illness and the option to go through the preventive procedure.

At the time, Jolie's first bout of surgery was met with mixed criticism, as many applauded her for speaking out about her treatment, while others said her choice was an extreme one.

"Regardless of the hormone replacements I'm taking, I am now in menopause," was part of Angelina Jolie's surgery explanation, according to Fox News. "I will not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared."
