Ben & Jerry's Beer Ice Cream TERRIBLE Example For Children, Critics Roar [PHOTO]

A few days ago, the big ice cream chain announced they'd be launching a new flavor of their popular product, releasing the Ben & Jerry's beer- and less than two weeks later, critics everywhere are already trying to put down the new product as it's seen as a terrible example for children.

In the past few days, Food World News has reported on the latest news about the ice cream chain, including how they recently celebrated their annual Free Cone Day, plus the release of their new breakfast item, the ice cream burrito - but it seems like the Ben & Jerry's beer might have gotten a bit too far.

According to Uproxx, Ben and Jerry's beer saw the big chain teaming up with Colorado-based brewery New Belgium, as both companies announced that they'd be joining forces to create a summer treat that tasted like beer - a dessert that had been deemed adult-friendly from the start.

USA Today reports, however, that there's no such thing as a Ben & Jerry's beer ice cream on the way, but rather that the company's taking a step towards the co-creation of their own craft beer, something called Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale that would seemingly hit the mainstream market sometime this fall.

Last week, the company confirmed the existence of the Ben & Jerry's beer, saying on their official Twitter that the project aimed at gathering funds for the Protect Our Winters charity, which is centered in the fight against climate change.

As Expatica reports, while the cause behind the Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale is an honorable one, it's also playing with fire by mixing alcohol and sweets, as they'd be making this type of alcohol enticing for children who want to try new Ben & Jerry's flavors.

"It's a crass, corporate greedy move to put put a brand name like Ben & Jerry's on a beer," said Bruce Lee Livingston, CEO of watchdog consumer group Alcohol Justice, speaking about the Ben & Jerry's beer ice cream. "It's bad for children - who will start looking at beer as the next step after ice cream."
