McDonald’s Delivery Service Partners With Postmates In Bringing Food Right At Your Doorstep

McDonald's Delivery Service is the next big thing happening with the fast-food giant. This time, the company has begun testing delivery system in New York in partnership with Postmates, a third-party delivery service, McDonald's announced on Monday.

McDonald's Delivery Service comes after Starbucks and Chipotle started their delivery systems also with Postmates with the aim of serving customer's demands with much convenience. The Chronicle Herald reported that Postmates works almost with the same idea as the Uber taxi service.

The news came after McDonald's has been in the spotlight for many months after its controversial lost of sales in the market.

The same idea of delivery system was already initiated by other fast food chains.  In 2012, Burger King was the first to try it.  In the later years, Taco Bell tried and tested mobile app while Starbucks is also moving with a convenient way of paying through mobile phone at the end of the year.

McDonald's Delivery Service runs in New York with cities including 88 New York City McDonald's locations in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.

"Our customers continue to tell us that they want their favorites from McDonald's delivered right to their doorsteps," Julia Vander Ploeg, Vice President of McDonald's USA Digital said in a press release.

How much will it incur you for availing McDonald's Delivery Service?

April Conyers, a Postmates representative says that Postmates' delivery fees range from $5 to $20, depending on the distance. There's also a 9 percent service fee and tip.

NASDAQ reported that McDonald's Delivery Service is available for all the menu items except for ice cream cones.  There will also be some outlets in New York City that will offer 24 hours a day delivery service.
