Robert Redford Net Worth: Sundance Film Festival Founder Speaks At Maine's Colby College … Tells Graduates World Is ‘Grim’ [VIDEO]

Before there was Brad Pitt and now Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine, the world had its share of amazingly handsome blond actors with Paul Newman and his "The Sting" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" co-stars, and being one of the most important actors in the history of Hollywood has made Robert Redford's net worth among the highest in the industry.

Considering that his name is immediately associated to independent film (as he's the founder of arguably the most prestigious indie film festival in the world, Sundance), many might now know that Robert Redford's net worth is actually incredibly high and well over the hundred million dollars.

While most of Robert Redford's net worth comes from a decades-long career as an actor (in films like "Out of Africa" and even last year's Marvel hit "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), his long career also includes directing and producing.

Redford's best known for playing the handsome leading man in the 60s and 70s in films like "The Great Gatsby," but a good portion of Robert Redford's net worth these days actually stems from his work as a producer, and he actually has three films in that job coming out this year, as well as producing three others from 2015 as well as four producing gigs in 2014 - and he's appearing in three movies this year as an actor.

Considering how busy his days are, it's little to no wonder that Robert Redford's net worth is as high as it is, as it's obvious how much he works for what he has.

Now, according to The New York Post's Page Six, the actor, producer, director and philanthropist is making news after giving the commencement speech at Colby College in Maine, giving graduates the best advice he could and telling them they can make a difference.

"You're stepping into a world that's, well, pretty rough. It's pretty chaotic, pretty divisive," said Redford. "You've got climate change, you've got debt, you've got wars, you've got political paralysis. It's kind of a grim story. But the story, I think, can be retold, and I really believe that you're the ones to do it."

"Don't be afraid to take a risk, don't be afraid of failure, be bold," he added.

Currently, Celebrity Net Worth lists Robert Redford's net worth at $170 million - good job, Sundance Kid!
