Starbucks Partners With Lyft for My Starbucks Rewards

To expand the loyalty program of Starbucks beyond its cafes, the firm has announced its partnership with Lyft, a ride sharing company. The deal allows the drivers and passengers to earn loyalty 'stars' which can be exchanged with and drinks in any Starbucks outlet.

The move is the newest addition to the My Starbucks Rewards digital loyalty program which will take effect before the year ends. As a result of the deal, the coffee company will also lift the statistics of the transportation network company.

Every time Lyft drivers achieve a certain milestone, they will be given stars that then give them a chance to accumulate for more rewards. They can also upgrade their membership status to gold.

The CEO of Starbucks Howard Schultz expressed his delight over the agreement with Lyft.

"We've spent a lot of time with (Lyft) over the last few months and have been so deeply impressed with their business model, their values and approach of building a business the right way," said the CEO.

The two companies are now planning on providing Starbucks employees with transportation as a part of the partnership. The co-founder and president of Lyft John Zimmer recognizes the potential of the deal. It makes two large companies work together for a common goal. A commute to work and a cup of coffee is a perfect combination.

Zimmer stated that Starbucks and Lyft share a common commitment which is to provide quality services to their customers and also to their employees. With the agreement of the two large companies, an incredible amount of opportunity is available.

Lyft's CEO revealed that more exciting programs will be launch in the future.

Earlier, the largest coffee chain in the world has announced it partnership with other companies like New York Times and Spotify as part of the company's digital loyalty program.
