Will There Be A 'Firefly' Season 2? Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk And Jewel Staite Discuss The Possibilities At NYCC

The cast of 'Firefly' may be a part of a TV show that only lasted one season, but Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite and Gina Torres still find themselves in conventions like the recent New York Comic-Con surrounded by thousands of fans.

Needless to say, Fox's cancellation of 'Firefly' may have been a huge lesson for the network that they should let fans decide on what must continue to air. Jewel Staite, who played Kaylee Frye in the series, shared what she learned so far.

"I learned that if the network tells you that no one is watching the show, sometimes they are wrong," she said.

That doesn't mean that the cast of 'Firefly' holds any grudges over the cancellation. In fact, they would all return if a second season will ever be produced.

"Full-time, please," Fillion said, with Staite adding, "Otherwise they would cast new people."

But the Browncoats don't seem interested in seeing their favorite characters played by different people.

"Nobody wants that," Torres quipped, and her statement was immediately met with enthusiastic applause.

If there should ever be a new 'Firefly' season, the producers will need to rebuild the set out of scratch, since the set was demolished after the completion of the spinoff film 'Serenity.' But according to Jewel Staite, Nathan Fillion might still have some mementos from the destroyed set.

"I saw a man taking things of the wall and that was Nathan," she said. "He had no shame just ripping things off the wall."

However, if a new season doesn't get produced, it looks like the 'Firefly' cast is doing quite well after the show. Jewel Staite reveals working on the series helped her land a few new jobs.

"I've gotten offered really cool jobs because of 'Firefly,'" she said. "Specifically, 'Stargate: Atlantis.' And that's because the producers liked 'Firefly.'"

There is no word yet on whether a second season of 'Firefly' will be developed.
