Ant-Man Sequel 'Ant-Man And the Wasp' Is Happening Now With A Director To Work With

Marvel's "Ant-Man" was a real success so now the studio is about to make a sequel out of it which will be released in 2018. The next installment is going to be called "Ant-Man and the Wasp." According to IB Times, they are now in the works of booking the right director for this project and it is none other than Peyton Reed who directed the first installment and helped make it a hit.

Based on The Hollywood Reporter's details about this topic, the studio is now doing some final negotiations to lock in Reed and have him go back to direct the movie again. They are looking for the month of July in 2018 to release this film. It seems that they are planning to release another superhero themed movie as well before "Avengers: Infinity War" comes out.

After all these rumors about Reed directing the second time around, it would appear that his co-director and co-writer for the first installment, Edgar Wright, is not returning to work on it. Deadline said that due to some creative differences, he decided to not be a part of it even though he has been working on this project back in 2006.

Since it looks like Reed is going to direct it again, he said that he would keep the characters and the actors who he had worked with the first time this film was introduced should he finally get the go signal to make it. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reed said, "I'd love the chance to do a second movie and further the voyage of these characters and do another 'Ant-Man' adventure where it's not an origins story and we're free to just take those characters and go wherever we want to go."
