Mothers Shouldn't Feel Guilty When they Can't Breastfeed their Baby

Breast milk is best for babies as they say. But how about if career oriented women have children. Most of them will not have time to breast feed after going back to work. This kind of situation can't be avoided especially at this day and age where women work as hard as men. Even if they are as busy as men, they still don't forget how to be a mother and breast feeding is one of the responsibilities that come with that role. The question now is, because of their career, should they feel guilty if they can't breast feed their baby?

According to Stuff, encouraging them to breast feed their babies doesn't mean its promoting guilt for those hard working women. Though this is the case for most mothers, all they need to do is make the right choice as to how they can schedule the feeding time.

When babies are not used to being breast fed, they usually feel upset when their mothers try to do it. If this situation happens, most mothers would opt for the pump. They would schedule the pumping session all throughout the day just to make sure their babies get the best nutrition.

There are a lot of reasons why mothers can't breast feed their babies. It may be because of adverse effects of medicine she is taking because of something. Some medications are not advisable for breast feeding mothers, that's why they can't. These reasons are valid.

The feeling that mothers get because they can't breast feed their child well or never at all is not guilt. Usually they would express disappointment or sadness because she is unable to do it but it is never guilt.

For the sake of the mother and baby relationship, it is very important to differentiate between feeling guilty or other emotions that can make her feel that she is not living up to the "good" mother role. One positive thing about guild is that it's something that CAN be acted upon. Whenever they would make the wrong choices and feel guilty about it, they could in turn use it as a motivating factor to do better.

Finally, in every situation no matter how big or small, no mother should feel less of herself.
