'Top Chef' Goes Extreme With New Competition Show Featuring Former Contestants

Top Chef is going to the Extreme!

According to the Wrap, Bravo is adding another "Top Chef" series to its roster, "Top Chef Extreme". The new series will feature former chefs, from past seasons, competing in culinary battles to answer the question, "Who is the ultimate Top Chef?"

During each episode contestants will go head-to-head in three rounds of "extreme culinary challenges," Bravo said. The winners will then face each other in a battle royal, during the season finale.

"The winners of each of these dream chef'testant battles will all compete against one another in the season finale in a definitive battle royal of pure gastronomic talent and ambition," Bravo said in a press release. "In the end, old rivalries will be settled and one chef will cut down the competition to win the grand prize and, more importantly, ultimate culinary bragging rights."

The new series joins previous spinoffs such as "Top Chef Masters," "Top Chef Just Desserts" and "Life After Top Chef". No hosts or contestants have been announced yet.

The Top Chef franchise has been going strong on Bravo since 2006. "Top Chef Extreme," will be produced by Magical Elves, who is responsible for the "Top Chef" series. Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz serve as executive producers.

"Top Chef Extreme" (working title) will premiere in Summer 2014, the Wrap reported.
