Animal Evolution: New Breed of Animals Brought by Human Exploitation

Evolution is a never ending process that surprisingly still affects as today.  In recent years, it has become more apparent happening around us.  Turns out humans are the primary drivers of this phenomenon.

Coywolf, a new hybrid of the coyote and wolf is reported to have increased in population, drawing close to millions as Business Insider reports.

This evolution of wild animals is mainly caused by the pollutants that humans dump on rivers and likes and transforming their habitat to suburban ones.  Humans are initiated the creation of wild animal hybrids to pests immune to poisons and superbugs that are immune to antibiotics.

These mutations are said to be taking place in a massive scale.  The news site has listed a number of species that have transformed into something different after several years.  Be amazed and be careful with some of these:

1.    Bedbugs are becoming a species of nightmare insects - these insects are reported to have better survival skills in the evolving urban lifestyle.  They are said to be more active at night when humans are asleep.  They are also said to have thinner legs so hopping away can be done quickly, outliving their less evolved bedbug counterparts.

2.    Two distinct species of mice have produced a hybrid mice immune to pesticides - in the past 50 years, Europeans have brought together the Algerian mouse and the common mouse producing babies that can't be killed by pesticides.  Inheriting a portion of genes from their Algerian parent made them immune to poison.

3.    Clepto sea slugs incorporate genes from their food to their own DNA -  the bright green sea slugs can survive on nothing but sunshine for days thanks to chunks of DNA from the algae that they eat combined with chloroplasts.  These characteristic are getting passed on to the next slug generation and this is by far the only known occurrence between multi cellular organisms.

4.    A new hybrid of coyote and wolf is taking over the Northeast - according to experts, Coywolf have taken over the northeast because of human farming and hunting practices.  More than 60 percent of the coywolves's DNA is comprised of wolve's DNA and the remaining comes from coyotes.  These animals are said to be bigger in size and hunt in packs like wolves.  As previously mentioned, their population likely just reached millions.

5.    Superbugs - the bacteria have developed resistant to antibiotics and they bring some of the deadliest infections.

6.    Moths have developed darker wings to adapt to the dirty surroundings - emissions from industrial factories left soot on trees darkening their barks.  The pale peppered has adapted the colour of the barks to survive.

7.    Tomcod - most species were wiped out in the Hudson River when PCBs were dumped in 1920s.  However this special species survived and formed a resistance against the poison.

There are still plenty of hybrid animals that have evolved because of human exploits to the environment.  What are your thoughts of this strange phenomenon?  Share us your thoughts by leaving your comments below.
