Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert CMA Awards 2015: 'The Voice' Coach Reacts to Brad Paisley's Divorce Joke

Blake Shelton predicted this was going to happen, and he was absolutely right. In a press conference, Brad Paisley confirmed that he and Carrie Underwood will joke about Shelton’s divorce from Miranda Lambert during the 2015 CMA Awards.

During the very beginning of their opening monologue, Brad and Carrie almost immediately started discussing all the big splits of the year. "From Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Halle Berry and…what’s his name." the hosts said. "And of course, we can’t ignore the breakup that really rocked our world — the one that’s one everybody’s mind. Two people in this very room who we all know and love — Splitsville.”

They added: “Look, they’re not even sitting together!” And the camera panned to Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

“Kermit, Miss Piggy, we just want you to know that we love you both, and we just want you to be happy,” the hosts continued. “On a completely unrelated topic… Howdy, Blake!” The audience, including the 39-year-old singer himself, totally cracked up.

Clearly, Shelton didn’t take offense. The day after, he responded to Paisley on Twitter. The “Crushin’ It” singer wrote, “Thanks for being a great sport @Blakeshelton. Love ya bro.” And Shelton replied, “Ha!!! Don't worry brother man. If there's anybody on earth who's learned to take it its me!!! Love you buddy.”

During a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Myers, Shelton acknowledged that it’s practically inevitable the subject will come up during the monologue portion of the show, which always takes the opportunity to lampoon current events.

“Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go ‘Ha ha!'” Shelton says, adding, “We’ve had the conversations like, ‘Okay, dude. I’ll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.’ I know it’s coming.”

Paisley says Shelton has been remarkably easygoing about the matter.

“I will say it’s very admirable that Blake went on Seth Myers and said, ‘Bring it!’ So we will!” Paisley tells ABC News Radio. “He and I have had a few little conversations here and there. He’s not someone who’s concerned at all quite honestly. It’s really refreshing.”

Blake and Miranda have seemingly been on okay terms since divorcing in June, but their relationship has really come into the spotlight again over the last few weeks — because things are heating up between Blake and Gwen Stefani.
