A New Nintendo Direct Is Coming Today, Here's What To Expect

It's already been an eventful year for Nintendo and it looks like the company still has more to share. The company has just revealed that it will be streaming a whole new Nintendo Direct on Thursday at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.

The announcement states that the event will cover news on 'upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS releases.' Nintendo also mentions that no news regarding the still top-secret NX console or the company's roster of smartphone and tablet games will be divulged - a fact that may disappoint some fans hoping for a big reveal before the year ends.

Regardless, even with those two topics off the table, Nintendo still has a whole lot of interesting things to share.

Given the focus on upcoming games, it's safe to assume that might be getting some news on the current status of Zelda Wii U and Star Fox Zero. The two titles are perhaps the biggest names that have yet to be released on the company's floundering 8th generation console. Announcing a firm release date for either one would go a long way towards building some excitement for the device.

Another rumor floating around is that of a possible HD remaster of an older Zelda game, Twilight Princess. Last month, Eurogamer reported that a listing for the title briefly popped up on Nintendo's eShop - a surprise holiday release could be a good consolation for Nintendo fans hungry for more Zelda.

We might also see a little bit more from Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Monolith Soft developed RPG is the biggest exclusive in Nintendo's holiday lineup, so a little extra PR push wouldn't hurt. It's releasing in the United States and Europe on December 4, 2015.

This Nintendo Direct is also the first to be held following the unfortunate passing of Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata.
