Red Robin Now Serving New Wine-Spiked Milkshake

The day has finally come - no longer will you have to combine wine, vodka, ice cream and fruity flavors in your home blender and call it your "Special Juice." Red Robin's new beverage will do all the work for you.

According to Yahoo News, the Colorado-based burger chain added a new beverage to its menu - wine milkshakes. The restaurant is kicking things off with the Mango Moscato Wine Shake, a drink that includes Alice White Moscato, SKYY Infusions Moscato vodka, mango purée and vanilla soft-serve ice cream.

Designed by Red Robin's master mixologist Donna Ruch, the new beverage is priced at $7.49 and will be available through Sept. 1, at 480 U.S. Red Robin locations.

Red Robin also unveiled a second seasonal drink, Citrus Moscato Fizz, which is a blend of SKYY Infusions Moscato vodka, muddled citrus and soda. Citrus Moscato Fizz will be available during the spring. The beverages are not served in conventional milkshake glasses, but in smaller cocktail glasses.

Two years prior, the chain introduced a beer milkshake in honor of Oktoberfest. The Beer Shake included vanilla soft-serve, caramel and Sam Adams OctoberFest.

Denny Marie Post, the chain's chief marketing officer, told USA Today that the new addition is about Red Robin "continuing to stay on the leading edge of fun trends." Yahoo stated that the shakes are targeting 35- to 49-year-old moms in need of a break.

"We're not a big party restaurant," Post told USA Today. "But for a mom to enjoy a wine shake with a burger is reasonable - and fun. It won't be one of our highest-selling items, but there will be people who love it."

The shakes are also meant to lure in new customers. Yahoo reported that the fast food chain has been struggling the past several years as the economy has become unpredictable.

"It's alcohol on training wheels," Bruce Lee Livingston, executive director of Alcohol Justice, said. "It's an attempt to get a younger market drinking...They're just trying to find ways to get people to consume more alcohol. It's about the money."

Along with the new dessert shakes, Red Robin also introduced two burgers - D.G.B. (Damn Great Burger) and Black & Bleu. The D.G.B. comes with a half-pound Black Angus beef patty topped with oven-roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic aioli and arugula with citrus olive oil dressing.

Black & Bleu contains blackened Portobello mushrooms, grilled onions, house-made Bleu cheese sauce, Bleu cheese crumbles, and Dijon sauce. The chain is also adding Red's Tavern Fries, topped with Red's Secret Tavern Sauce, cheese, and bacon bits; and a Chocolate Banana Chunk Bite-Tini, to its menu.

Would you try a wine milkshake or one of Red Robin's new burgers?
