Movado Luxury Watch Brand Offers an Analog Smartwatch [VIDEO]

The days when watch lovers shrugged off the smartwatch as insignificant may finally be over. Makers of wearable technology are trying to lure in traditional watch wearers by partnering up with notable brands that have clout to watch lovers.

Movado, makers of the famous “Museum Watch,” joins Tag Heuer in the smartwatch game with its Bold Motion watch engineered by Hewlett-Packard. The Tag Heuer Connected uses premium materials like titanium and sapphire crystal and uses top-of-the-line electronics. It is also the first smartwatch to have an Intel chip inside it, Engadget reported.

Movado, in contrast, decided to make an analog smartwatch. The Tag Heuer Connected will never be mistaken for a Carrera Cal. 16 but the Bold Motion follows the signature Movado design. Unlike most smartwatches, the Movado smartwatch uses an analog mechanism for its timekeeping features.

“Engineered by HP” is the program that was born out of HP's collaboration with Michael Bastian on the Chronowing, a smartwatch that is more analog than it is digital. The Movado Bold Motion continues this ideology.

The “smart” part of the watch comes in the form of delivering notifications such as email, activity on social media, calendar functions, and battery level warnings. As for the last one, this should come as less of a concern as the Bold Motion can go a whole week with a single charge, Mashable noted.

Haptic feedback technology and blue and white LED lights are used for these notifications. These lights are located on the inside edge and is similar to Fossil's Q Grant. The watch is 44mm and water-resistant up to 50 meters.

The Verge noted that there are two models, a stainless steel one with black PVD finish and all black PVD version. They both have a black silicone strap with 3M reflective material. The Movado Bold Motion costs $695.
