Zayn Malik 'Befour': Former One Direction Star Previews First Single In New Video [WATCH]

Zayn Malik is finally ready to unveil his solo music to the world. In a slightly odd little short film, the former One Direction singer is teasing the instrumental version of his song, “Befour,” just about four days after the group released their latest album, Made In The A.M.

The 22-year-old covers the new issue of The Fader, and while the full interview isn't yet available, a preview video has been released which features Malik opening up about his time in the band, what his new "personal" music will sound like, and his influences.

"I don’t feel like people really know what I’m going to give them, musically," Zayn told the magazine. "And once they hear it, I feel like they will understand me a little bit more, and they’ll understand why I did what I did, and why I left the band, and why I had to write all this s**t down."

"Because for five - not even for five years, for ten years, this album has been in my brain, and it’s just been there, sat with me, needing to be out," he added.

The short 2-minute video interview features Malik riding a motorcycle, smoking, and an all-too-brief snippet of Malik's new track, "Befour." The unique spelling is sure to stand out to 1D fans, Four, of course, was the band's last album all together.

The song can only be heard as instrumental, and for a short period of time during the video Zayn talks over the music about how different the sound will be from anything he did with 1D.

If you listen closely, you’ll hear a really smooth and modern track that sounds like it could definitely be the background to a great R&B song. However, fans will have to wait a little longer until they'll know exactly what the full song sounds like!
